And Tony Hart was the person who drew the design
She sounded ferocious! From this obit: One former producer was once asked whether there was a hierarchy. “Yes,” he replied. “There was Biddy at the top and everyone else at the bottom
TBF would’ve thought she’d have a gold badge by now
A pioneer in many ways, a monster in others.
I still have a Blue Peter badge I received in 1980 and a signed letter of congratulations from Biddy Baxter. It was for drawing a picture of Goldie the Blue Peter dog. The badge gave free entry to museums (back then, there was no lottery so museums were not free). My grandparents took me to Chester Museum and the custodians had never seen one before and treated me like I was a celebrity.
One of my wife’s early jobs was shadowing the Floor Assistant on the show, which is how she learned “how the cats were always kept on the sofa.”
Marmite on their paws; which is why they were always washing themselves…
Was she still at Blue Peter for the Richard Bacon shenanigans?
