A lot of LGBTQ kids are in conservative households, and enacting a policy where teachers should out them to their parents could lead to persecution, abuse, or worse… “honor killings”.
How is this even remotely controversial?
It’s a health issue, parents must be involved.

Thankfully, any sane teacher should understand why this is a terrible idea and will ignore this suggestion. Coming out is a major decision and there will be plenty of children not a position to do so, either out of safety or simply not being ready yet. They should be allowed to come out on their own terms, not forced out because of a government policy from an education minister with no understanding of the LGBT community.
In reality? Best not.But a teacher should be able to confer with a school councilor who is also bound to keep their mouth shut, in order to act in that childs best interests. Unfortunately that takes funding for every school to ensure that councilor would be a full time staff member.
