A passenger jet flying from Rhodes to Tel-Aviv experienced a mechanical malfunction in midair on Monday, with Israel’s civil aviation authorities declaring an emergency.
The plane managed to land at Ben Gurion Airport after three failed attempted, according to The Jerusalem Post, which quoted a source familiar with the incident.
The aircraft was identified as an Arkia Airlines plane conducting the IZ076 flight
Ambulances and fire engines, along with other emergency services, had been stationed near the airport tarmac as the plane landed, with Israeli Air Force warplanes accompanied the aircraft until it landed.
No information was immediately given on the nature of the mechanical malfunction.
