Maybe it’s “tartar sauce” without capers so they can’t call it tartar sauce?
Love me fish n chips, love me fish n chip sauce, hate capers, not racial just dont like them
It has a parsley/tartare flavour, definitely not tartare sauce
Maybe, it could be changed slightly or they just understand that these days it’ll sell more by giving it such a literal name since people might not even know what Tartar sauce means.
Yes, and it even says “tartare sauce” on the back. It’s trying to modernise and make an old fashioned name more appealing
Maybe they were worried people would think it was made of old teeth.
There was some survey done of young people who said they wanted a sauce for Fish and Chips….not knowing one already existed. So they rebranded it and this is the result!
Heinz has gone mental lately for new flavours and sauces. They’re mostly shit too.
Stick to tomato sauce, lads.
Looks like the french “pomme frites sauce” same ingredients but with added gherkins.
Lol that’s the kind of thing my dad would definitely buy
Dumbing it down for Sun readers
Edinburgh does proper chippy sauce not this bullshit
It’s giving _non-brewed condiment_ energy.
Looks yummy. Might have to purchase some when I next do a shop.
Looking at its green speckled appearance, it reminds me of an old product I loved, but is sadly gone – Colman’s sage & onion sauce. It was delicious in a chicken sandwich, and I’d love to see it on the shelves again.
Hilarious bless heinz trying to take the credit for Harare sauce lolollol
Capers just really salty
It’s just Cornflakes for people who can’t face reality.
Fresh taste. Beats the alternative
It’s hard to tell if we’re having to be very clear on our product names these days like America or people are more likely to try a product from lame naming.
Just dont try the Morley’s sauce lol
For £3.40 a bottle i don’t care what they call it I’m not buying it
This looks like it is to tartar sauce what salad cream is to mayonnaise.
Also, heinz already make the definitive fish and chip sauce, it’s called ketchup!
not ‘legally’
They announced the change a month or two back – I assumed it was just a PR stunt like when they “threatened” to rename sandwich spread.
If they even think about messing with salad creme, I’ll blow my lid.
Saw this in the supermarket today. Yes.
They rename existing sauces all the time. Took home a bottle of Heinz Morley Fried Chicken Sauce. Thought it tasted (and looked) exactly like one I already had in the fridge. Exact same nutrional info and ingredient list.
Kebab Sauce became North African Style Spicy Kebab Sauce, became Fried Chicken Sauce, with just a sticker change.
It’s not called Tartar sauce unless it’s from a specific region in Tartaria. Otherwise, it’s just sparkling mayonnaise.
I just assumed this was part of a long play to change the recipe without being forced to meet some kind of “legal definition” of what the sauce is
Fish & chip sauce indeed. That’s brown, red or vinegar. Or sometimes curry. Tartare sauce if you’re a bit posh – but it’s usually considered a fish sauce.
Edit: I see from later comments that it is indeed tartare sauce but dumbed down for those who don’t know what that is.
