C-SPAN's description in advance of the legislative session is: "The Texas House of Representatives gavels in for a fourth attempt at a vote on a new congressional map for the state. Most Democrats left Texas to try and block the map designed to boost the GOP's chances of holding the House in 2026's midterms."

  1. How long do democrats have to hold out for this redistricting to not happen?

  2. Just a reminder that JB Pritzker is worth 3.8 billion dollars so if Greg Abbott thinks that the Democrats are afraid of not getting a $40 paycheck and whatever unconstitutional fine he’s trying to levy against them, they’re not.

  3. Could the reps that are holding out rotate in and out so that they can be present and fail to reach quorum every few days rather than all of them be absent?

  4. I did some calculations and California currently has a disparity between how people voted in the 2024 Presidential election and how House seats are allocated. It is skewed 22.29% in the Democrats favor.

Texas is currently skewed 18.56% in the Republicans favor.

If the gerrymandering of five seats happens, then Texas will increase that disparity to 22.04%, pretty close to California. If California then gerrymanders five seats, then they will increase their disparity to 31.91%.
