Well she would, wouldn’t she? Her legacy depends on pushing this view.
i couldn’t care less about her opinion. who knows in 20years were probably all going to be executed by ai anyway
She won’t exist in 20 years either
Could not get past the paywall.
Wonder what she means
Thanks to her Supreme Court Case it almost certainly will.
Completely removed all pressure on UKgov to agree to a future referendum.
So no government will agree to another unless it is sure of winning.
She said that 20 years ago
Who will last longer Nicola Sturgeon or the United Kingdom?
I certainly hope she’s correct.

She killed independence so it’ll absolutely exist in 20 years.
She just wants to sell her book.
I think things in the UK are predictibly getting worse, and if indy advocates can continue to direct that towards a split then it’s just inevetable. For how much Westminister MPs blow their horn about an inseperable union, they will eventually get too tired and annoyed to carry on the charade.
I wouldnt be surprised if it is. I wouldnt be surprised if it isnt
A political mastermind speaks.
Can we rename the Scotland sub to the Nicola Sturgeon Says sub for the next week or so till her book comes out?
It’s more of a caliphate nowadays depending on who you ask
It was entirely down to her that the ‘campaign’ crashed into a wall. No strategy, no leadership, no serious urgency from the SNP. Jam next week, maybe, _If_ you vote SNP.
Then she takes an ill-advised fishing trip to the UK Supreme Court, which in turn nails planks across the final legal doors she might have had.
Some of the more lunatic fringe nats like to tell us there are other legal avenues to explore yet rather mysteriously can’t explain what those are. Funny how no serious and experienced Scottish legal minds (no KCs, no retired judges, no Law professors) have done so either. Probably because there aren’t any. This ridiculous whinge to the UN about Scotland being a colony is not supported by any remotely serious nationalist politician.
None of the more recent and ever-shrinking independence ‘rallies’ such as “All Under One Brolly” have or had any serious, high profile SNP figures in attendance either. Again, there is no leadership and it feels like they’re taking the piss letting others do the work for them.
I give our civilization about that same time. Climate collapse, the same which we could not be arsed to tackle on time, will absolutely wipe out everything we have built over the thousands of years.
So her publicist is making her drip feed us soundbites to get her back in the public eye with a view to recycling her political or public career.
I couldn’t give a monkey’s about anything she has to say, she single-handedly made a mockery of a party I’ve supported most of my life and set back the potential for another referendum years.
She’s an intelligent woman, make no mistake about that, so telling the public that she didn’t notice the massive fraud and incompetence that surrounded her is an insult to every Scots intelligence.
So OP, in your other posts, when you said that “Hopefully russia will continue its SMO until Ukraine is fully de-nazified”, what exactly did you mean ?
I enjoy revelling in the desperation of defeated evil as much as the next smug bastard, but it’s probably worth noting that she said:
*”I predict that in 20 years, perhaps sooner, the UK in its current form will no longer exist”*
This was always something weird in her thinking. I remember she tried to construct an argument that the UK had “materially changed” since 2014 – and somehow that made her generational narrative of pre-2014 irrelevant. It was odd because, well, of course a country will change significantly over 20 years. The Britain of 2014 was very different from the Britain of 1994.
I think it speaks a bit to her innate uber-conservatism: she, ultimately, didn’t like change. She didn’t seem to see the need for public services to reform if they were to continue to deliver. She didn’t recognise the economic forces coming down the line. Her one piece of radicalism, Scottish independence, seemed more about keeping Scotland frozen in aspic, roughly as it was in the mid-90s than about building real change.
She was yesterday’s politician, even when she was in office.
Nicola Sturgeon predicts that UK will ‘no longer exist’ in 20 years
By Hamish Morrison11th August
NICOLA Sturgeon has predicted that the United Kingdom will “no longer exist” in 20 years’ time.
The former first minister made the claim in her autobiography, which was released earlier than planned on Monday.
Sturgeon said that her “life has been about” the campaign for Scottish independence.
In Frankly, the SNP MSP reflects at length on her failures to secure a second referendum and the intransigence of the UK Government.
On the book’s final page, Sturgeon said: “I still desperately want Scotland to be independent. I am also confident that it will happen.
“I predict that in 20 years, perhaps sooner, the UK in its current form will no longer exist. What will emerge in its place will be stronger, healthier and more democratic.
“An independent Scotland, a more autonomous Wales and a reunified Ireland will join England, enjoying the benefits of the home rule it will gain as a result, in a new British Isles confederation of nations.”
She said that “nothing” would stop her from “playing my part in trying to bring that about, adding: “For as long as I have breath in my body, I will fight for a fair, equal, inclusive, outward-looking Scotland; an independent country, relatively small in size perhaps, but with the potential to make a big, positive impact on the world.
“That, after all, is what my life has been about.”
I’d be interested in seeing how her previous predictions have panned out before taking it too seriously. Something tells me they haven’t all panned out exactly as she expected.
Considering she squandered the largest SNP majority ever I think she should shut up. She did nothing but harm the independence movement with inaction and scandal.
Inshallah
I remember hearing this 20 years ago. Genuinely feel bad for Indy supporters that buy into the movement and believe this stuff.
