POLAND’S FIRST NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Polske Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ), the state-owned company tasked with building Poland’s first nuclear power plant, is starting to negotiate a construction agreement with U.S. partners, PEJ CEO Marek Woszczyk told Rzeczpospolita daily.
COVID-19 RECOVERY FUNDS
Polish Funds Minister Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz will present explanations on procedures for allocating European Union funds on Tuesday after reports on misuse of money allocated to Polish businesses in the hospitality sector under the EU’s COVID-19 recovery fund.
TREMOR AT JSW MINE
Rescue teams are searching for a miner with whom there’s no contact after tremor in the JSW Knurow-Szczyglowice coal mine late on Monday, the company said. Seven miners safely escaped the tremor area.
BNP PARIBAS’ POLISH UNIT
The Polish unit of BNP Paribas BNP reported a second-quarter net profit of 733.8 million zlotys ($200.4 million) on Tuesday, beating a company-provided consensus of 642 million zlotys and mirroring an upbeat release from its French parent in July.
