Dunno how Labour chaos would benefit the leader of the Labour party
A better leader would be able to.
Starmer is void of charisma. Corbyn was too arrogant to read the room. Miliband was too afraid (pre 2015) to show his personality and bite back at some of the criticisms of him.
The last 12 years of Conservative rule will probably take 2 decades to fix.
It has also certainly buried the idea, amongst the sub-60yr old public, that the Conservatives are good with the economy.
Major with nan election against Kinnock who despite his best efforts never managed to break free of being part of the 80’s Labour Party & everything that stood for. When he against someone with charisma (Blair) the tories had possibly the worst election result in their history. May managed to lose a majority against the most slandered and hated politician this country has probably ever had.. so I’d say charisma matters even when you think it doesn’t.
The Labour Party cannot benefit from the Tory ‘chaos’ because there is a cigarette paper’s difference between Labour and the Tories now. In the 1970s there were significant differences which is how Thatcher managed to be different enough to offer actual change. Labour is only capable of offering the same policies ‘just run better’.
