CAIRO – Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi reaffirmed the strategic importance of the Egypt Exploration and Production (E&P) Portal as a digital platform for investment in the energy sector.

The Portal plays a pivotal role in showcasing available investment opportunities, providing comprehensive geological and technical data, employing cutting-edge technologies, and offering technical support and feasibility studies.

These features, he noted, significantly accelerate investment decision-making for companies operating in Egypt’s upstream oil and gas industry.

During a meeting held on Tuesday with the Portal’s development team, the minister directed that the investment map be continuously updated to reflect new exploration opportunities and ensure the platform remains a dynamic and forward-looking tool for investors.

The meeting forms part of the Petroleum Ministry’s strategy to attract both local and international investments aimed at boosting production and driving sustainable growth in the energy sector.

It also reaffirmed the E&P Portal’s role as a cornerstone of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to modernize and digitalize Egypt’s petroleum industry.

Key attendees included Undersecretary of the Ministry for Agreements and Exploration Samir Raslan, Vice President of the South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company (GANOPE) and Director of the Portal Mohamed Radwan; and Claudio Leone, a Geosolutions Business Development Manager at Schlumberger, the global oilfield services company.

Radwan reviewed the success story of the E&P Portal, launched in partnership with Schlumberger in February 2021.

He noted that the platform currently hosts 47 member companies and has facilitated the attraction of over dlrs 1.2 billion in committed investments.

These investments, he added, have resulted in the drilling of 127 wells in 51 exploration blocks, a clear indication of the Portal’s substantial impact in advancing exploration activities.

Leone also outlined Schlumberger’s strategic vision for the ongoing development of the Portal, stressing continued investment in its infrastructure and the integration of advanced digital technologies aimed at enhancing data accessibility and optimising the overall user experience.
