worrying times ahead when the British economic engine starts to sputter. and the last government spaffed our safety net on VIP lanes.
“We have tried nothing, and are all out of ideas” is the anthem for this pathetic government’s attempts to fix the problems with our country.
The only things they have managed to do successfully is giving our porn data to American Christo-fascists
Our French cousins in Île-de-France are at 7.2%, which looks average for France.
I do wonder why London has the worst unemployment rate. I wouldn’t have guessed that
Tech and services are being hollowed out
Rachael Reeves is out of Runway.
I wonder what the government thought raising Employers NI would do for Minimum wage employees?
Hint – Businesses that employ minimum wage employees are usually the ones with the tightest margins. They are not recruiting.
And existing employees have to pick up the slack.
Tech is getting absolutely battered right now. Companies shipping roles to India and AI is reducing the need for headcount.
We’ve frozen hiring (and not backfilling anyone leaving) because the CEO believes our current workforce + AI tools/gpts/geminis will circumvent the need for new people. CEOs are being prompted that this is the new way of work.
Taxes, COL and rent are also too high in London which is also causing a brain drain.
When productive people leave, growth slows down and there’s less employement and lower GPD.
Reeves plan is so brilliant

clowns
So hard getting a basic admin job these days … if you’re 40 plus forget it!
Around 45% of IT jobs are outsourced from the UK to other countries and this trend will only grow. I think the outsourcing of finance jobs is roughly the same as IT.
AKA more to tax.
6% is pretty low!
Here are some ideas:
Scrap winter fuel and pensions’ triple lock.
Introduce wealth tax. Cut income tax.
Replace council tax with land value tax.
Planning reform + abolish green belt nonsense.
Fix mortgage rates for the duration of the mortgage, with an automatic right to remortgage if interest rates fall. This benefits owners, renters, and businesses with price stability, and fucks over the banks.
Listen guys, I love a good old London bash from time to time, but the headline is misleading. Here’s two screenshots from the ONS.
The first shows that 6% isn’t really that bad when you check the long term average over the past 20 years.
The second shows that the unemployment rate actually DROPPED (so got better) by 0.3% since January.
Try not to be caught out by the online/ bot sensationalism in 2025.
Well, Angela from Accounts, do you think that this might just have something to do with your taxing employment by raising employers NI?
Asking for my friend, Liz Truss.
I am confused to hell what’s going on.
Tech is being offshore by Indians not AI. AI is very much still in its infancy and I work in tech and see it’s absolute crap rn but in a few years maybe it will be decent.
The problem is off shoring and the lack of inventive to employ British people instead of looking over seas. For example my company has 10 new grads joining… 2 of which are British?
The long term implications of this can’t be understated, until we stop off shoring were done
So nuts and infuriating how companies can hedge their bets on AI and just say fuck you to so many young people (and of course others impacted by the move).
ONS figures don’t reflect this
London is where all the jobs are though I thought?
can’t legalize cannabis to make jobs though, no, no, more managed decline instead
Taxing ordinary people = More to do.
Taxing super rich elite = Can’t even fathom it bcoz it’s impossible
Good old Chancellor – never gives up on the hope that there’s more to ruin and fail at.
More to do? What, she has more jobs to destroy?
This government is even worse than the last one, and that’s saying something.
You make the mistake of supporting politician myths. They cannot and will not improve anything imo
