Hello everyone,
First of all, I want to say how much we love Norway — its beauty, people, and culture have always made our trips here truly special. Unfortunately, during a recent stay, we had an experience that left us feeling taken advantage of, and we’d like to make sure no other visitors go through the same.
Without going into every single detail here, the main points are:
• We were only informed on the morning of our check-in that there would be no electricity (and therefore no water) on our checkout morning, making it impossible to shower, prepare breakfast, or even use the toilet before leaving.
• When we tried to contact the hotel, the phone number listed was disconnected, and their email responses were dismissive and unhelpful.
• Overall, the communication and handling of the situation were extremely poor and unprofessional.
We don’t want revenge — we simply want to know: what is the correct and most effective way to officially report this business in Norway so that authorities are aware, and future visitors are protected?
We’d truly appreciate guidance from locals or anyone who has been through the complaint process here.
Thank you so much in advance for your time and help. 🙏
(Happy to share more details privately if needed.)

To be realistic, authorities would not care about a single incident. Not sure what you would want them to do. Rather just leave a negative review.
The authorities will not care about this. Not in this country, and not in any other country.
very sad 😔 we have already left reviews everywhere. The host charged us for services not provided, there wasn’t running water…
Unlike other European countries there’s no complaint book or anything. There’s no consequences for stuff like that in Norway and there’s nothing you can do about it. I’m sorry that happened to you it shouldn’t be like that!
There is not like there is a national tourist board that decides over all the hotels.
If this service was not taken into account when you booked the hotel, there should have either been some sort of thing to remedy the situation, or that you got a discount. if you booked through an agency, you can contact them and explain the situation and they will help you.
This is not a thing about norway, this more sounds like a bad hotel.
Are you saying they had an emergency and the power was unexpectedly off?
Did you pay with credit card? If so file complaint to credit card company describing your case and ask for refund for the night in question.
I am so sorry you experianced this and from what i see on the web page it looks like a very local type of cabin. Most likely not expecting someone from anywhere else to come there is my impression when i look at their homepage.
So for clarity it looks like a communication issue and they should have informed of this. Also extremely abnormal to not inform of no electricity in the cabins? Information about check outs are normally given when you get the keys or a message on your phone and or e mail.
It seems very unprofessional and i get your reaction.
If you ever come back dont be afraid to ask questions about everything/anything before you even come here.
Again i am so sorry you had an experiance like this. This is not us.
