How popular are these cards in Germany?

  1. Hello guys,
my friend Migel, who is a contemporary artist (https://www.instagram.com/migel7765/) is working on this interesting project with an artistic take on German-suited playing cards.
Now I am wondering if these cards are popular in Germany these days? I know from a few friends of mine that they are indeed popular and I was told that they play a game called “Skat” with them mostly. However, I Googled these cards and found that there are a few different visual styles of them, coming from different regions (Austro-Hungarian, France, Germany, etc.).
My question is, what visual style is the most popular in Germany? Is the one I attached popular? And how popular are these cards in general compared to poker cards?
    Thanks a lot!

  3. Austrian here. We use them. They are called Schnapskarten here. They usually say Doppdeutsche Schnapskarten on the package. Schnapsen is a game that nearly everyone knows here – young and old. Especially older people like to play for a little bit of money or for some beers 🙂
