Delighted to read that Islington Council are planning to do something about this. Farringdon has been awful for having to bat away these CIC scammers. I was there a couple of days ago and was very surprised to encounter what I assume is the genuine charity CentrePoint with the fundraisers behaving politely and not harrassing folk. Bit of a novelty! While I’d rather not be interrupted by anyone it made a pleasant change from the multiple people pouncing on commuters as they pass.

Kings cross on the choke point bridge to granary square every single day.
I make them give me the full spiel as I walk from Farringdon1 to Farringdon2… and then say sorry and I enter the gate line.
They’re often at Southwark which ironically is literally across the road from TfL’s head office. Absolute nuisance.
Inside Success are one of the worst. One of them literally followed me down the street yelling that I “don’t care about young people” when I told him I didn’t have time to stop and chat to him (I was on my lunch break and had to get back to work).
Anyone know if Shepherds Bush did anything about the Chuggers / Religious Loonys, I went over there for the first time in Months on Saturday and the Concourse at the Shepherds Bush Green end was deserted.
I was outside a station having a cigarette and one approached me. “Do you have a few minutes to talk about….” I said “once I finish this fag im going in” then she started on her spiel. I finished and walked away as she was mid spiel. A mate said I was a dick when I was talking about it later but I didnt feel that way. You’re a dick if you do that job and should expect people to be dicks to you because you’re a genuine dick if you do it. I dont give a fuck “they’re just doing a job”, prostitutes do a job but at least they have tact.
I will never be polite to someone who steps in my path and “dont you care about children with cancer?” Will only give my reply of “i do, I just dont give a fuck about you getting a commision”.
“If I give you my details right now, how much do you make personally? Not the charity, you?” Shuts them up quickly.
I just go “no thanks” without even slowing. Made my friend laugh a bit because he’s a bit sheepish and will just walk past and mumble at them.
That’s the only way to deal with people is to say “no. None today thanks”. They operate on the awkwardness and politeness of our culture, so you have to just break the script. You’re never going to see them again anyway.
