Considering Russia uses its athletes as propaganda it is clear we cannot allow them to be freely engaging with the global stage.
It has been suggested we set a conditional loophole that allows athletes who publicly condemn the war but I don’t know how well that would work versus total exclusion
The Russian people may suffer harshly thanks to Putin but under Putin the Ukrainian people are suffering far worse so we have to show that a global community cannot ignore war crimes.

I’ve been a Union rep in work in the past, so I always take a claim of discrimination with a bit of skepticism, but on this occasion it does seem like they have a good point. Banning people based solely on their nationality is potentially discriminatory, and is therefore likely covered under the Equality Act.
Fuck the Russian state and anybody supporting the invasion of Ukraine.
With that said – Banning individual players, even those who openly oppose the actions of their government, simply because of their nationality, is straight up xenophobia
Hope that every Israeli or American athlete will be banned too in that case, only fair right?
