This year’s youth entrepreneurship and leadership camp Junior Achievement Unlocked organised by the educational organisation Junior Achievement Latvia convened 32 of Latvia’s most talented high school students, reports Labs of Latvia.
During the camp, working in teams the young participants developed their entrepreneurial and innovation skills to create technology-based business concepts focusing on sustainability and the circular economy.
The Junior Achievement Unlocked camp was attended by talented young Latvians, who after demonstrating their leadership abilities throughout the year by creating the best student-run businesses in Latvia, passed a selection process to join the Junior Achievement Latvia Leaders Programme, and achieved excellent results in national academic competitions.
“This camp brings together young people who have the potential to add significant value to Latvia’s business environment and society in the future. Our goal is to strengthen that potential. The camp’s programme is designed to give students the opportunity to practice their leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and other essential personal development skills intensively over the course of a few days,” said Junior Achievement Latvia CEO Jānis Krievāns.
Over a six day period at Ventspils University College, students worked in teams to develop innovative business projects, which they presented and defended before a jury at the camp’s conclusion. In the process, they learned about the startup creation cycle — from ideation and prototyping to business modelling and marketing, in the process receiving hands-on guidance from Latvian entrepreneurs and business professionals.
Throughout the camp, various leadership skill-building workshops and personal development training sessions were held. In the evenings, students engaged in discussions with experts about personal growth, the keys to success in business, and artificial intelligence.
