The Czeech Tour will take place this week simultaneous to the Tour of Denmark, some of the Belgian classics and the Hamburg Cyclassics and perhaps one of the headliners in the race will be a returning Cian Uijtdebroeks who carries great form and could be the man to beat. Team Visma | Lease a Bike have revealed their lineup in support of the young Belgian.

Uijtdebroeks was a very controversial signing at the very end of 2023 as he broke his contract to join the Dutch team, who was also eager to take in what was one of the brightest Grand Tour talents in the peloton. However throughout the second half of 2024 he developed back issues which also led to nerve pain in one of his legs, preventing him from reaching his best level but also preventing him from having consistency.

2025 didn’t start off any better and in May he took a prolonged break to try and fix the issue permanently. During his preparation for a return, he got hit by a car during a training ride and had to take extra time off, but his return at the Clásica San Sebastián saw him finish in the Top10 and a few days later at the Tour de l’Ain his level seemed to improve further and further. He won the queen stage of the race, attacking and dropping race leader Nicolas Prodhomme on the Col du Grand Colombier and taking his first pro win with over 3 minutes of lead and a 51-kilometer long solo attack. His performance was so strong that it was argued that he could be a last-minute addition to the Vuelta a España lineup in support of Jonas Vingegaard, but that is most likely not the case.

More so because he will be racing the Czech Tour in pursuit of more experience as a team leader and more victories, now that at 22 years of age he’s broken the seal. The four-day race has two summit finishes and he should be the main favourite to win the overall classification, with the likes of Quick-Step’s William Junior Lecerg and Astana’s Santiago Umba as big rivals. He will be supported by Thomas Gloag ang Tijmen Graat from the elite team albeit two young climbers, and four riders from the development team: Ian Kings, Cedrric Keppens, WIlliam Smith and Mikal Grimstad.
