  18. Again, interesting that the US thinks it can have peace talks about Ukraine and Russia without Ukraine being involved. That just sounds like two countries making a plan to take over the one not involved in the talks.

  24. This whole thing about foreign powers discussing the future of Ukraine without actually having Ukraine at the table is giving me Munich 1938 vibes.

    Hitler, Mussolini, Chamberlain, and Daladier got together in Munich and decided to hand Czechoslovakia over to Germany to deter future German aggression, later pressuring the Czechoslovakians to cave in.

  25. So the occupied areas would have full control over their political system, and will there be anything in the deal which will stop the “Donetsk Peoples Republic” and “Luhansk Peoples Republic,” just requesting to become part of Russia 1 second after the deal making the deal pointless

    Because that’s what will happen, there is no separatist movement, they are Russian soldiers and officers out of uniform as Igor Girkin himself admitted and Putin admitted in regards to Crimea

  27. For a country that has publicly expressed that Europe ‘do more’ and that Ukrain/Russia is nothing to do with them, they certainly love shutting Europe out of the conversation.

    Zelensky obviously isn’t going to agree to this. And now that Trump has essentially stopped all aid to Ukraine, he has no leverage over Zelensky.

  32. Because everyone looks at the West Bank occupation and thinks “yeah that’s a great idea, we should do that too!”

They speak of the occupied territories of Ukraine as “things” to be taken, but the occupied territories are Ukrainian land, full of Ukrainian people who have lived there for generations, whose young people are Ukrainian soldiers, whose history is Ukrainian, whose songs and poetry are Ukrainian, whose cemeteries are full of the bodies of Ukrainian patriots.

    Putin will insist on taking the full Ukrainian provinces he pretends he has control over, rather than the much smaller areas his troops actually have taken.

    And what of the stolen Ukrainian children? The sanctions against Russia? This proposal gives Putin exactly what he wants.

    Trump isn’t a negotiator; he’s just a real estate agent. It makes me sick.
