August the 14th, 2025 – Radiochirurgia Zagreb has become the first member of the Cleveland Clinic Connected programme in all of Europe, further spotlighting Croatian healthcare talent and innovation.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Radiochirurgia Zagreb has been the star of an an official press release published recently on the Cleveland Clinic’s official website, as well as in some of the world’s largest media outlets.

It has been pointed out that “Radiochirurgia Zagreb is the leading speciality hospital in Croatia for the early detection and treatment of cancer, using some of the most advanced technologies in the fight against malignant diseases. Over the past seven years, the hospital has treated more than 10,000 patients and processed more than 90,000 cases, with a special focus on lung, liver and prostate cancer, thereby strengthening its position as a leader in oncology care not only in Croatia, but also in the wider region of Southeastern and Eastern Europe”.

The Cleveland Clinic launched the Cleveland Clinic Connected programme to respond to the growing global demand for quality healthcare. It’s a collaborative programme that allows healthcare institutions and hospitals to connect with Cleveland Clinic’s clinical and operational experts, with the aim of improving patient care, quality and safety. By joining the programme, institutions gain access to the expertise and best practices developed over more than 100 years of Cleveland Clinic experience.

“We’re pleased to have been able to formalise our partnership with Radiochirurgia Zagreb, whose commitment to excellence is fully aligned with Cleveland Clinic’s mission to provide the highest quality healthcare and help as many people as possible,” said Tom Mihaljević, MD, president and CEO of Cleveland Clinic and executive director of the Morton L. Mandel Foundation.

“Expanding the Cleveland Clinic’s best practices beyond US borders is truly something special, it allows us to share our world-renowned expertise and make a real difference in people’s lives.”

They emphasised that, as a member of the Cleveland Clinic Connected network, “Radiochirurgia Zagreb will have access to educational programmes held in person at Cleveland Clinic or via distance learning, as well as access to protocols and best clinical practices used at all Cleveland Clinic facilities all over the world.”

Radiosurgery physicians will also be able to request educational consultations regarding more complex cases. In addition, the Radiosurgery team will receive support in the areas of continuous quality improvement, advisory services, and professional development and education.

“Radiosurgery Zagreb will send two clinical leaders to the Cleveland Clinic in September for the Global Physician Leadership Immersion Programme, where they’ll have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the best clinical practices,” the Cleveland Clinic’s press release said.

Otherwise, the Cleveland Clinic was named one of the best hospital systems in the world by Newsweek’s 2025 list of the World’s Best Hospitals. The system includes 23 hospitals and more than 280 outpatient facilities, including locations in Northeast Ohio, Southeast Florida, Las Vegas (Nevada), Toronto (Canada), Abu Dhabi (UAE), and much closer to home in Europe in London.

The goal of the Cleveland Clinic Connected programme is to build a global network of independent organisations that share similar values and are focused on quality, and that have a positive impact on patient care. Cleveland Clinic professionals work with hospitals and healthcare systems to ensure the highest standards of healthcare delivery, improve operational efficiency, and support the professional development and education of clinical and non-clinical staff.
