Romania’s current account deficit narrowed to EUR 1,893 million in June 2025 from EUR 3,072 million in the corresponding month of the previous year, marking the smallest gap since January.
The improvement was driven by smaller deficits in the goods account (EUR -2,464 million vs EUR -2,676 million in June 2024) and the primary income account (EUR -805 million vs EUR -1,304 million).
In addition, the services surplus edged up to EUR 949 million from EUR 924 million, while the secondary income balance swung to a surplus of EUR 428 million from a deficit of EUR 15 million.
Considering the first half of the year, the country’s current account gap widened to EUR 13,897 million from EUR 11,682 in the same period last year.
