During the night of August 13 to 14, the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded an active attack from Russia: 24 of the 45 enemy drones were neutralized as they attempted to strike Ukraine. Also confirmed were 21 drone hits across 12 locations.
According to the command of the Air Forces, the night operation began at 21:00 on August 13 and lasted several hours. The enemy forces used two S-300/400 surface-to-air missile systems from the Kursk region, launched 45 Shahed-type attack drones and decoy drones of various types from Kursk, Orel, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtersk, Shatalovo.
The strike drones hit frontline areas of Donetsk and Chernihiv regions; missile strikes were recorded in Sumy region.
Air defense acted in coordination with aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to destroy the threat and suppress the enemy’s actions.
According to preliminary data as of 09:00, anti-air and radio-technical units destroyed or suppressed 24 Shahed-type UAVs and decoy drones of various types in the north and east of the country.
21 drone hits were recorded at 12 locations, which indicates enemy activity on several fronts and the need to continue systematic defense of the airspace.
Nature of the Attacks and Defense Actions
The defense continues to strengthen coordination among units: aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine work in close interaction to minimize the consequences of air strikes. Such actions reduce the effectiveness of attacks and help protect civilian facilities and critical infrastructure.
