Prince William and Princess Anne look set for a head-to-head clash next week.

Prince William is the Patron of Welsh Rugby and may decide to attend the second game of the Women’s Rugby World Cup tournament, which will take place between Scotland and Wales.

Princess Anne could also opt to attend that match as the Patron of Scottish Rugby, with the royal often seen supporting Scotland’s rugby teams.

The tournament is being hosted in England, so the match would be easily accessible for the royals to attend.

In March, Prince William and Princess Kate made a joint public appearance at the Six Nations match between England and Wales.

The Princess of Wales is the Patron of the English Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League.

As host nation, England will play in the first match of the competition and will take on the USA in the curtain raiser.

Princess Kate may choose to attend the match due to its importance despite the royal currently spending time on holiday with her family.

Princess Kate attended the Wimbledon ladies final in July in her role as Patron of the All England Club.

The following day, Kate was joined by Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte to watch the men’s final.

Prince William and Princess Charlotte also travelled to Switzerland last month to support England’s Lionesses in the final of Women’s Euros.

In the summer of 2024, the Prince of Wales attended three of England’s Euro 2024 matches at the men’s tournament.

Prince William was accompanied by Prince George at the final of the competition in Germany.

The Prince of Wales is the Patron of the Football Association, having previously been the President of the organisation for 20 years.
