KM Malta Airlines has renewed its contract with GSSA Network Airline Services (NAS) covering cargo capacity on 18 routes out of Malta.

The contract provides a total cargo management solution for the airline, which is the national carrier of Malta and operates around 280 weekly flights using a fleet of eight A320neo aircraft for 18 direct routes from Malta.

The carrier was formed in 2024 following the closure of its predecessor Air Malta, which was shut down after struggling financially and was unable to gain state aid.

NAS had also provided GSSA services to Air Malta.

NAS said the contract extension reflects a ”strong and successful, ongoing partnership between NAS and KM Malta Airlines”.

David Curmi, executive chairman at KM Malta Airlines, said: “Together we will continue to focus on delivering excellent customer service for our Maltese and international cargo customers.

”NAS & KMMA have developed an unrivalled understanding of the Maltese air freight market, allowing KMMA to grow its cargo business year on year.”

John Gilfeather, NAS vice president for the UK, Ireland and Malta, added: “We thank KM Malta Airlines’ management team for recognising the quantity and quality of resources that Network has put behind the carrier to identify global cargo customers to and from Malta.

”We also thank KMMA for the operational excellence their ground handling partners and airline crews demonstrate daily, to ensure all cargo and mail is handled with care and flies as booked.”

According to its website, the airline offers flights to Istanbul, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Catania, Düsseldorf, London, Lyon, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, Prague, Rome, Vienna and Zurich.
