The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has recognized the Essentia Health Living Center’s commitment to excellence with a four-star quality rating. CMS’ Nursing Home Care Compare website features a quality rating system that gives each nursing home between one and five stars.
“We know how important this facility is to the residents we have the honor of serving, and that’s why it’s imperative that we make the Essentia Health Living Center the best it can possibly be,” said Mike Curtis, administrator at Essentia Health-Fosston since July 2024. “This recognition from CMS is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, who go above and beyond every single day to deliver expert, compassionate care.”
Four stars is the second-highest rating a medical facility can receive from CMS and is based on performance across three categories — health inspections, staffing and quality measures. By continuing to invest in its staff and services, Essentia is focused on providing all of its patients and residents in the Fosston area with the highest-quality care. Highlighting that point: The CMS rating for the Living Center includes a perfect five out of five stars on staffing.
Curtis is proud of the investments made in the Living Center and the intentional work done by its staff, including director of nursing Kristi Mienert, to improve every aspect of the resident and family experience.
“We are so grateful that people in this community entrust us with their care,” said Dr. Parul Gupta, new medical director at the Living Center. “These are our family members, friends and neighbors, and they deserve nothing but the best. We work tirelessly on their behalf.”
The 50-bed Living Center is connected to the Essentia Health-Fosston hospital and clinic and features 24-hour skilled nursing care. Additional on-site services include transitional care, respite care and hospice care, as well as physical, occupational and speech-language therapy.
