I can’t stand all this MP bashing. MPs can claim expenses for the second home, because their job requires them to have homes in two places, so the extra expense is a direct consequence of the job, and unusual. It should be reasonably uncontentious that these expenses are covered – it is just basic fairness.
If you start denying MPs the right to expenses, you get onto a slippery slope of denying all kinds of things: why do we need expenses at all, why do people need more than just food and shelter, why do the unemployed have money for flat screen TVs etc.
We should be for warm houses for everybody: the rich and the poor.

What I find hard to believe is the amount of people in this country who have no idea how their tax money is spent.
And I don’t mean this in a funny way. Nobody really knows how the money is spent because the lack of transparency means nobody can know.
Ahh, if only MPs had to face the same expenses as the people they govern…they might actually start doing there job properly & nobody in parliament wants that.
So they can keep the heat on full and to the max, they might need to open all the windows as well, and it is the tax paying public that pays MP’s heating bill as well as not being able to pay their own
MPs expenses are just free money. They aren’t following any of the rules normal people have to follow for our meager allowances.

All my friends who are graduating form prestigious universities in medicine,engineering and generally stem fields are looking to relocate because of the Tory government. This country is going to crumble in on itself, in 5 years all the skills and trades will have relocated we will have nothing .

Just retrofit some industrial boilers at their second homes and run some hot water pipework around their entire constituency.
Enough is enough. It could be a food shortage and they would be covering feasts on taxpayer money while people died in the streets.This needs to stop. These people should be made an example of.
