Girl, 14, found hidden under paedophile’s blanket in his car

1. A girl aged 14 was found hidden under a blanket in the car of a paedophile who groomed her on Snapchat and the gaming platform Roblox, a court heard.

   Ben Bryan was caught by police red-handed and has now been jailed for six and a half years.

   Bryan, the court heard, groomed the schoolgirl on Snapchat and Roblox before travelling from his home in North Staffordshire to meet her.

   At 2.20am on Sunday October 24, 2024, officers pulled over Bryan’s blue Ford Mondeo in Lancashire as it had a rear light out and no MOT. When asked what was under the blanket in the passenger seat, he replied, ‘it’s just my friend, she’s cold.’

   Daniel Bramhall, prosecuting, told Preston Crown Court that Bryan told officers the girl was 15 and ‘did not seem to think there was anything wrong with driving a 15 year old girl around in the early hours of the morning.’

   When asked how he knew the teenager, Bryan said they had been chatting for a while online. When officers unlocked his phone, they discovered messages to the girl in which Bryan said: “I love you, I miss you, I can’t wait to see you. I’ll meet you at….”

9. Good coppers presumably feeling like something was “off” and having a snoop. Could have just said “sort your brakelight and MOT out. On your way.” Restores a little bit of faith in the fuzz.
