  1. Just stop this whole thing and buy jets from somewhere else. What is the US going to do about it? Introduce crazy high tariffs?

  2. I’m not against nor approve of these Jets but imagine beeing one of the few swiss Pilots who has the chance of flying these and you have to wait your whole career for two decade old Plane and then they fuck up the deal at the last second.

  3. What ever happens I hope this will be remembered that these deals with USA are not good and for any future deals we will avoid USA. I doubt that we can go out of this current deal for the F-35 but I hope we will make never these kind of deals again.

  4. Better to lose a few billion than to be the USA’s vassal for many years, as it appears the current situation will last. Tax U.S. goods 100%. Stop being spineless.

  5. Nope, this will be decided in Bern. If the parliament does not approve then there will be un “urgent” need and it will be decided by the Bundesrat alone. See “Credit Suisse”.

There will be no majority in parliament gainst the higher costs.

  6. The CHF to USD rate is fixed in the contract. Can’t we just pay in USD directly (we convert it) then we are close to the new amount as the conversion rate has significantly changed?

  7. Buy Eurofighter! Cheaper and better.

(Anyway the whole Fighter jet program is outdated and useless, any war will come, will Fight with drones)

  8. IIRC, the price was also discussed back in the ’90s when we bought the FA-18.
