Lithuania’s natural gas transmission system operator (TSO), Amber Grid, signed a 2.05 million euro contract with the local company UAB Dujotiekio statyba.
Under the contract, technologically outdated gas shut-off devices in the municipalities of Klaipėda District, Ukmergė District, and Pakruojis District will be reconstructed.
“The modernised system will increase the overall reliability and resilience of the gas transmission network, reduce operational costs, and improve management efficiency,” said Tomas Urmanavičius, Director of Organisational Development at Amber Grid.
Once the project is completed, gas flows will be controlled remotely via the SCADA remote operational control system.
This marks the second major step this year—in July, Amber Grid signed a €3.2 million contract for similar work being carried out in six municipalities.
