They have created a situation where even with supportive parents and teachers, the lives of trans children are still hell – and that’s exactly what the bigots want.
Your teachers support you – they could* lose their jobs.
Your parents support you – they’ll be reported to social services.

I remember going to school in the early 2000s knowing so badly that I wanted to be a girl, but couldn’t tell anyone. Couldn’t get the thoughts out of my head that I was some sort of freak, no matter how hard I tried to suppress them. When I found out what being trans was, it felt like I found the piece of me that was missing. And I told myself that even though it sucks for me, it will be easier on the next generation of trans kids. The world just naturally gets a better place, right? People only get nicer over time, right?
I will never forgive the people who did this. I’ll go to my fucking grave furious at them

Schools have a duty to safeguard and provide privacy for all pupils. That means keeping boys and girls toilets single sex.
All because some evangelical christian funded right wing rabble rousers have convinced twitter addicted old people who have no business being in a school or giving this much of a shit about children’s genitals that this is apparently important.
The world really has gone to shit in the last 25 years.

Poor kids have been badly let down by the adults in their lives. Hopefully, there will be a reckoning at some point for what’s been done to them.
It’s not a bathroom ban, people just have to use the bathroom of their biological sex or a gender neutral bathroom where they are available. Unsurprisingly biological girls have rights too.

Wait wait. Why are we following England’s filthy laws regarding out schooling system?
2016 when i came out, my mom did a bunch of research and used the 2010 equality act to ensure my all girls school allowed me to wear trousers (uniform was exclusively skirts), change privately, and use a gender neutral bathroom (disabled one – there were no boys toilets). i was the first and only trans student at the time.
i was confident that if i ever got confronted in a public bathroom, i could bring up the equality act and the fact that i had the legal right to use the men’s. never did get confronted as a teen lol, no one cared.
my teachers all did their best to use he/him pronouns for me and switch to using my new name. i knew one teacher was very against lgbt stuff, but she never said anything to my face (she did go on a big transphobic rant when i was off sick, my classmates told me about it lol, but she was polite enough to not do it to my face)
within a month of me coming out, some timid kid a couple years below me came up to me and told me his mom told him to talk to me. turned out he’d come out outside of school, but thought he had to stay closeted at school. i’m still mates with him, 9 years later. we tight, mainly cuz it was just us lol.
classmates anonymously sent me death threats online and i was cyber bullied brutally, but hey ho. in school, i felt safe and no one was too mean. most classmates’ reactions was “wtf does that mean. huh, that’s different, ok”
but yeah, we’ve gone backwards rapidly fast.
The scary thing is, a lot of people here just actively don’t care if kids get sexually assaulted or something.
Like, if they were just some ultra Conservative bible thumping twits, I could semi understand. But that’s not what this is. You lot just don’t care. You’ll see a trans girl getting raped in a public bathroom and shrug. And that’s the scary thing.
oh that ones good i forgot there are also a ton of girls that also want to transition so are now basically dudes banned from using the male bathrooms and they are gonna be wondering why there are a ton of dudes in the female bathrooms.
but hey all the armchair specialists know what’s best and just wants them dead, no other way to put it really. when they cant transition early these people arnt gonna care when they reach 20. we dont go to hell we already live in it and its called earth.
equality and common sense is literally no argument with this one. people against it just out themselves as toxic
this is the same as beating the left-handedness out of children, in that it will never work, it’s natural for a child to have this variant, it’s unreasonably cruel to the child, history will only remember it as cruel and absurd.
we know this is wrong, experts know this is wrong, science knows its wrong and for some reason our government doesn’t. Nicola Sturgeon had her faults but at least she did what she could to protect our valued trans neighbours and community members.
