I would sooner take a math lesson from a chimpanzee.
It’s so hard to draw a strong dotted line between an obscure tax provision and lower quality of life in say central Arkansas, it’s all so purposefully abstract but if there was ever a messenger that could arrest attention JUST long enough to maybe connect those dots, AOC is it.
I mean how about we stop taxing people for things they already own in general. Why should I have to pay taxes for acquiring assets from my family or when I pass them along.
It’s like taxing somebody when they get given a tv for free.
Im all for taxes on the right things and when those taxes are being used the right way. Tax income sure. Just make it a blanket tax rate. Tax me on consumption sure. There should be no reason from these 2 taxes are country can’t afford to run the public facilities. You know what else is great about this? If our economy goes to crap because of government policy then their tax revenue goes down so they have skin in the game in making sure our country is strong.

Show me a prosperous and diverse economy, with a good quality of life, that is advancing science and technology, where medical care is scarce, there is extreme wealth and income inequality and where social freedoms are not legal.
That is one thing in the BBB that is plain and simple to notice.
It’s the higher band in the estate tax. She used a house here, but an estate can be other assets pass down to inheritors.
Imagine an ultra rich person passing down $33m house, the US taxed that at 40%. That is $13m the US could grab…how many regular joe taxes is that on ONE house.
And then republicans are like “noooooo that’s too much a $33m house should have no taxes!”
And that $13m I mentioned…how do they fill that gap because the money still has to come from somewhere, they are cutting the budget for Medicare and kicking people off it!
Let that sit. MAGA is out there voting for the rich person to keep $13m in their coffers, then turning around saying “yeah, kick these people off Medicare. Leeches. No work = no health.” And some of those people are even themselves!
It’s insane to me. MAGA is such a cult they’d slit their wrists for the rich and point their fingers at dudes selling strawberries in a parking lot saying “HE IS THE FUCKING PROBLEM! THIS IS WHY OUR COUNTRY IS ROTTING!”
