  1. The RAF is ready to be deployed to provide air cover in Ukraine under peacekeeping efforts [if a deal to end the war is reached with Russia.](https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/operation-steel-porcupine-the-deterrents-ukraine-needs-from-trump-to-stop-putin-3861144?ico=in-line_link)

British forces are poised to provide air and sea support, while Sir Keir Starmer is still prepared to put “boots on the ground” in Ukraine [in the event of a ceasefire](https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/zelensky-putin-meet-trump-claims-ukraine-ceasefire-now-viable-3858460?ico=in-line_link).

UK military officials are said to have drawn up plans that involve providing air cover over western Ukraine.

Defence Secretary John Healey said the UK was “ready to step in in the event of a permanent ceasefire” by leading a “multinational force” to protect Ukraine’s security.

He said the UK and France had formed the plans with the so-called “coalition of the willing” nations, who have pledged to support Ukraine by helping to ensure any truce remains in place.

Air and sea support would involve the presence of RAF jets and British Naval ships under coalition efforts to maintain security in the region. The UK could also help clear the Black Sea of mines.

Coalition forces would also provide military aid and training for Ukraine to ensure their own army is strengthened over time and equipped to defend itself against future threats.

It comes as the UK’s ambassador to the US Lord Mandelson said that Donald Trump has offered to join European forces in giving security guarantees in Ukraine. He said it would be premature for Trump to set out what that would look like.

The Prime Minister said this week that plans were ready to be enacted in the event that Russia and Ukraine agree on a permanent end to fighting.

“We’re ready to support this, including from the plans we’ve already drawn up to deploy a reassurance force once hostilities have ceased,” Starner told allies on Wednesday.

Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin will meet in Alaska tonight for face-to-face talks that could mark the first significant step towards peace in years.

If progress is made towards a ceasefire, a second trilateral meeting could be held between Putin, Trump, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Healey told broadcasters on Friday that Britain and France have coordinated “more than 200 military planners” from 30 different nations to ensure a peacekeeping military operation is ready to be launched should the talks result in a peace deal.

Healey told the *BBC*: “In the circumstances of a ceasefire, we’re ready to put UK boots on the ground in Ukraine… They’re ready to act from day one.”

Asked if these troops would fight, Healey said he would not discuss “hypotheticals” but said it was a point of principle that “any British forces have the right to defend themselves, if attacked”.

  2. Man announces he is ready to plant flag on saturn if made possible.

  3. EU is weak AF, two options for “ceasefire” – Russia rolled over Ukraine, Ukraine defeated Russia: neither of those will require UK or France “reassurance” at that point.

They are also hoping their constituents don’t know which border of Ukraine contains the frontline, here’s a hint: ITS NOT WESTERN UKRAINE – so even more useless.

Ukrainians must be shaking their heads right now, rest of EU leadership is patting each other on the back and giving each other awards for such heroic actions.

  4. Mfers covered for Israel but won’t protect Europe ?

  5. Ha….the RAF has few aircraft as it stands and can’t defend our own skies

  6. And I’m ready to plant my seed in Sydney Sweeney if she’d have me. But like…

  7. Why the fuck would Ukraine need air cover *after* the peace deal?

  8. Fucking send them NOW. Fuck Russia. They’ve spent so much time in a hybrid war, they’ll run for the hills at thr end of a couple of british hellfires
