cleaning up the White House facade as Donald Trump claims he’s set to clean up Washington DC. On Sunday, the president demanded that the city’s homeless move out immediately, saying they would be given places to stay far from the capital while criminals don’t have to leave as they’ll soon be behind bars. The Post a tease for his Monday press conference where Trump is expected to push for further federal authority over the nation’s capital, including the potential federalization of the DC Metropolitan Police Department. Some residents are skeptical. What’s the line that you’re going to draw to, I guess, delineate between what? Metro PD or DCPD and federal officers, the Army, the military. So, it sounds like the precursor to military occupation in DC. Trump’s latest tirade against a perceived lack of security comes after the attempted carjacking of a former Department of Government Efficiency employee. Two 15year-olds have been arrested in connection with that incident. Overall though, as for America Nationwide, DC’s crime rate is in significant decline. It’s currently at a 30-year low with figures from Metro Police showing overall crime down 7% on the year and violent crime down 26%. That hasn’t stopped Trump from leaning on law and order issues to play to his base. In March, the president assembled a federal task force to crack down on crime and maximize immigration enforcement in DC. He’s now calling for minors as young as 14 to be tried as adults there. As the federal capital, Washington is technically under the exclusive jurisdiction of the US Congress. Since 1973, though, it has been allowed a measure of autonomy, including a mayor and a 13 member city council.

    To inact more CONTROL over the Capital, over the PEOPLE.. over the Rule of Law.

  3. If they are homes, they are going to be homeless somewhere else, you are just exporting your issues.
    So areas like Roanoke Virginia are you going to have a higher homeless rate.
    All this is going to do is destroy their belongings. It is not going to solve anything.
