The Latvian men’s basketball team, plagued by injuries, is preparing for its second game in three days – after losing to Lithuania in overtime in a tight game on Thursday night, they will next face Slovenia on Saturday.
The match against the Slovenians will also mark the halfway point in a series of warm-up matches before the European Championship final tournament.
A week and a half before the start of the European Championship, the Latvian national team is still not in its optimal composition, as Artūrs Žagars and Rodions Kurucs, who did not play against Lithuania, are recovering from injuries. Meanwhile, Mārtiņš Laksa has even dropped out of the national team’s contenders due to injury.
In the game against Slovenia, everyone is, of course, waiting for Luka Doncic to take to the court in Rīga, but his participation is not yet guaranteed.
The match between Latvia and Slovenia will mark the return of live sports broadcasts on Latvian Radio 1 after an eight-year hiatus. All of Latvia’s matches at the European Championship will also be broadcast live on Latvian Radio and on LSM.lv.
