However, the weather will be warmer as the week progresses. According to Weeronline, temperatures on Saturday started at 17 to 19 degrees and will climb slowly through the day. Later this morning, the sun will break through from the north.
By the afternoon, gray skies will clear in many places, bringing more sunshine. Highs will reach 19 or 20 degrees on the Waddeneilanden and in the north, 21 to 23 degrees across much of the country, and up to 24 or 25 degrees in the south. The northern wind will remain moderate, carrying in cooler air.
This evening, a mix of sun and clouds will persist, with sunset temperatures between 16 and 20 degrees. Along the coast and on the Waddeneilanden, winds will be stronger. Overnight, cloud cover will increase again, with lows of 11 degrees in the east, 14 in the west, and 16 in Zeeland.
Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy. In the south, the sun may appear briefly in the morning, but elsewhere the skies will be overcast for much of the day.
Looking ahead to next week, warmer weather returns: Monday will see periods of sun and highs of 24 to 27 degrees, locally reaching 28 in the south, while the Waddeneilanden remain around 21 degrees.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny and dry, with highs of 24 to 26 degrees along the coast and up to 29 degrees inland; Limburg could see locally tropical conditions of 30 degrees. Wednesday through Friday will continue with warm and sunny conditions, bringing stable summer weather across the country.
While temperatures are dropping and much of the country will see cloudy skies and occasional drizzle this weekend, heat-related risks—such as headaches, dizziness, or shortness of breath—can still be a concern at large outdoor events if temperatures spike again.
The GGD Gelderland, the municipal health service, noted that organizers must monitor conditions and take preventive measures if temperatures rise above 25 degrees. Risks depend on weather conditions—including temperature, humidity, and wind—event type and physical activity, visitor characteristics such as age and fitness, and air quality.
Festivals taking place this weekend include Lowlands, Decibel Outdoor, Dynamo Metalfest, Reggae Lake, R² Festival, LatinVillage, and Singers by the Sea. Visitors are advised to stay hydrated, seek shade, and watch for signs of heat stress.
This week’s cooler shift reportedly also signals the end of the country’s second heat wave of the summer, which had lasted into Friday. Meteorologists say double heat waves are still unusual but are appearing more often as summers in the Netherlands grow hotter.
