Nice ! It would be interesting to see the data adjusted for the cost of living I guess.
Looks like a list of tax havens to me
GPD per Capita is useless, almost all countries of this ranking are rich because they attract big foreign multinationals with lower corporate taxes (tax heaven)… The money arrives from other countries and is the work of other population.
It doesn’t reflect the true output of the population
This does not take into account the wealth of the general population. These are mostly tax haven countries, or the cost of living is very high and the people pay a lot of taxes.
If we talk about people, then the richest people on this list are the Qataris. Every one of them has jobs provided by the government, and they pay zero tax. Any student who wants to study higher education abroad will get $4,000 monthly from the government, despite the scholarships and everything else they provide for. Their jobs are easy, and they spend a lot of time on vacation. Also, health care is free.
What sources for the data? This chart, showing no sources, is just opinion.
Are Bermuda & Macao countrries.
Really needs to be split into countries w/ more people than 10-15M, & those w/ less. Ireland is the real winner here–middling GDP to rocketship. I suppose Brexit is to thank.
(places where millionaires’ lawyer placed foot once)
People must be working extra hard in those small countries.
For more accurate comparisons of living standards, it’s better to use GDP per capita at PPP. Nominal GDP per capita is limited because it doesn’t account for cost of living, while PPP adjusts for price differences between countries
This graph is not accurate
I’m happy to see so much criticism on GDP per capita these days. Hopefully in a few years we’ll never see this useless statistic again.
sort of a pointless graph considering 10 of the 20 are either tax havens or small city states, or both.
