Fair play to the lads out in Europe Direct Blanchardstown for welcoming these Ukranian Refugees

  1. Fair play. One thing I’ve learned recently is that Ukrainine is incredibly diverse, in fact 9/10 of the refugees coming from Ukraine were not born there or do not have a Ukrainian passport.

It must have changed recently because I visited Ukrainine in 2018 and I didn’t even see one black person or someone from the middle east.

  2. Yeah, I’ve heard from people working in the area that it is fairly… diverse. Some of them are permanent residents, professionals that have worked in Ukraine for years and that is legit, but yeah, a lot of them are apparently students and really they should just be sent home.

  3. All these African scammers pretending to be Ukrainians need to be posted back to Rwanda. Absolute joke.

  4. The EU Temporary Protection Directive covers Ukrainian nationals as well as non-Ukrainian nationals with permanent residency or refugee status, the majority of these individuals are, however, from former Soviet states. While Ukraine has a minor illegal Middle-Eastern and South Asian population, the majority are international students, this is especially true of African nationals in Ukraine; medical studies, as an area of study, is particularly popular.

In terms of arrivals from Ukraine, African nationals are less likely to be permanent residents than former Soviet nationals, the nature of their immigration status in Ukraine is short-term study, that is simply the case. Despite this, these international students feel that their study in Europe was unfairly interrupted and many are uninterested in returning to Nigeria etc. Germany is offering to allow them to complete their education in Germany and is planning to return them to Africa after, other Member States are less interested in this plan.

I’m unaware of the Government releasing any information on how they plan to address this – planning to house Nigerian students as well as Ukrainian refugees, I believe there is a distinction, would probably be unpopular – but they will have to publish a plan on this because we will receive African international students and they will want to remain, to study and in all likelihood, to live permanently.
