1. from the description it sounds more like Golan Heights than West Bank. 

   The distinguishing feature of the West Bank is an Apartheid system where a large, ethnically distinct population are ruled over and have their movements restricted by a different, and hostile ethnic group.

   The Russian view is that the people in Donbas and Crimea are effectively Russian. And since Russia isn’t a democracy, and most of the anti Russian population in occupied-Ukraine fled West, they can effectively rule over these regions as part of Russia quite easily

2. The fact that saying ‘West Bank style’ for an occupation is now normal is just ridiculous in itself, we should have never allowed them to get to this point.

   As for the article itself, I figure this somewhat settles which side of this conflict is equivalent to which side of the Palestinian conflict.

   No it isn’t, at least, Russia isn’t. The whole “we’ll let you rule it for now while we regroup and try to take it back later” has always been a Ukrainian “concession” for areas they physically can’t take back now, basically the exact opposite of the long-term stability Russia wants.

5. This article is unfortunately incorrect because we already know what occupation will look like.

   Russia will continue to integrate all areas that it holds.

   This will include large investment in infrastructure. Redistribution of land. Giving ownership of homes/apartments to occupants.

   As for Ukraine, they have passed Law No 7163, which states how occupied territories are to be re-integrated into Ukraine proper.

   It seems this law already applies to Donetsk oblast and parts of Kharkiv oblast. It is unclear if they will implement it in more oblasts.

   Law No 7163 puts all revolting and formerly occupied territory under military rule.

   All inhabitants are to lose their political & legal rights. They will be sent to filtration camps where they will be “re-educated” on “how to be Ukrainian”.

   Those that pass those camps with flying colors may get *some* of their legal rights back but none of their political rights.

   Zelenskyy rejected a law passed in 2021 that affirmed all Ukrainians in the occupied territories will have legal and political rights.

   So yes, it will be West Bank-esque. Ukraine even used Israel as an example to follow.
