Anne Applebaum is such a fantastic writer and is razor sharp in every phrase she’s put to paper. Her books are incredibly impressive and I’m so glad that her voice continues to advocate for the Ukrainian cause. It’s deeply saddening how much worse the outcome expectation has become since Trump took office. Had he just stayed the course, we’d be in such a vastly different situation now.
It’s just sad to imagine that there were people who genuinely believed that Trump would be better than Biden on Ukraine…

I disagree. The US has massive sway over sanctions against Russia and Is a leading world supplier of military equipment. We also have Russian assets frozen by US institutions. I wouldn’t consider that as having “no cards”
