  1. How was “one in one out” going to make any difference at all? Like seriously

  2. Nothing except completely closing the benefits tap that is currently gushing will stop them from coming. Not just the endless freebies that are widely talked about in the media, but also the lifetime benefit streamline that they unlock once their asylum claims are approved including, but not limited to, free housing and free university (at places like Cambridge, no less).

They completely bypassed all of Europe to get to the UK for a reason: we’ve rolled out the red carpet. Stop that, and you stop the boats.

  3. And again we see the “the government didnt fix this overnight therefore it is a complete failure and will never do anything, so vote for Farage in 2029!” headlines.

  4. It’s way too early. We won’t see the results of that policy for at least 12 months.

  5. Oh look at that, the system designed to have long-term impacts didn’t fix things in one day

  6. In the most British way, they should make a paperwork for that.
“You’re coming in? Brilliant, love, just gonna need you to get this form filled in with the contact and signature the person leaving in your stead. Just come back when ready with all this and we can get you through.”

  7. How about 100 out and 1 in? Why 1 out and 1 in? Literally gonna make no difference at all.

  8. Is absolutely every article about immigration in the British press being posted to this sub?
