Was enjoying some nice music when two bigots started posing around the singer, getting closer while doing so, screamed at him, and then turned off his music. MY BLOOD BOILED. I charged towards them quickly and glared at them. I had the urge to tell them off but didn’t wanna interrupt the performance. As they walked away, these two short bigots kept looking back and of course they once again met my gaze. I stayed behind for another 30 mins to show this busker some support. I swear to god if I saw these two come back I was gonna punch them in the face and scream into their ears until they bleed.

I spoke with the Chinese singer afterwards. He told me he’s from Heilongjiang and he sings as he travels. Good luck man I hope the world treats people better.

  1. So, two assholes started posing… i don´t see any racists. Just two bigots. When the singer would be from styria, they also would have started posing at him.

  2. Sadly if you’re doing photos or Videos in public you attract this kind of people.
Even if you are not alone it can happen. I don’t know what’s wrong with their brains.
Has nothing to do with his heritage or race.
Source: I did photos and videos in public for several years

  3. I think that racists in austria do not bother about chinese people.
Their “enemies” are muslims and/or jews or anything that looks like coming from the middle east.

They do not care about anything “too foreign”.

  4. Busking isn’t allowed there without an official permit of the city.

  5. Aha und wo sieht man das des rasisten san?
    Habens irgendwas rasistisches gesagt?
Vlt. warens nur bsoffene hiafla oder irgendwelche doofen influenza geschädigten.

  6. You glared at them? And if they came back you would have for sure said something…..
Listen, i know i’m being the asshole here but either do something real or shut the fuck up. You don’t help anyone by being an internet hero that does something when they come back. I’m not telling you to get up into peoples faces. There’s cops everywhere on Stephansplatz. Talk to them. Going on reddit and talking about what you would have done if they came back is pathetic and annoying. Be better. If you don’t feel safe confronting them go to the cops. This ain’t it.

  7. The comments here are a prime example why we have this kind of shit in Austria. “No it wasn’t racist, you’re overreacting”, “it can’t be racism because he’s Chinese and we only hate Arabs”.

To be fair people really tend to be childish and do grimaces in the back of video and maybe it’s not flat out hateful racism, but would they have done it to a white person the same way?

  8. Might be a coincidence, but a week ago, I witnessed two guys on a moped, driving by an Asian tourist, calling some racial slurs.

This was also in Innere Stadt.

  9. People make fun of Asians because they assume we’re weak, too polite, and won’t say anything. That’s why the level of disrespect we face is much higher. Prime example of Alltagsrassismus.

  10. You sat there for over 30 minutes just watching while they bullied this poor man, and then you went and posted a picture of them online without their consent (which is illegal btw). Honestly, I don’t even know who comes off worse here

  11. Anything that Chinese people don’t find funny is racist, according to the UN charter law and the writings of Confucius.
