Child Q: Strip-search schoolgirl head teacher steps down

  1. It’s the right thing to do. I know they weren’t personally responsible for what the police did that day but I find it hard to imagine a headteacher not being made aware of the police being at the school or their intention to investigate a pupil.

As a headteacher, your job should be to prioritise the wellbeing of your staff and students. Something went terribly wrong that day and the headteacher failed in their duty.

It makes me so sad for the poor girl who was searched and her family too. She’ll have learned from a very early age that the people who are meant to protect you and keep you safe, aren’t always there when you need them – and some of them will actively harm you instead. And every one of her fellow pupils will have just learned that same lesson through her story. What a horrible start to life.

  2. “strip-search”

Sexual assault. She was sexually assaulted. Let’s call it what it was

EDIT: im glad someone showed up in the comments to “well um *akshully*, in a court of law-”

    > “The child was made to bend over, spread her legs and use her hands to spread her buttocks while coughing, ..”

    > Her mother told the review she is a ‘changed person’, adding: ‘She is not eating, every time I find her, she is in the bath, full of water and sleeping in the bath.

    > ‘Not communicating with us as (she) used to, doesn’t want to leave her room, panic attacks at school, doesn’t want to be on the road, screams when sees/hears the police… When sleeping, (she is) screaming in her sleep, I have to watch her.’

They forced her to strip naked and expose herself to them. She literally has trauma from it. But sure, pretend you didn’t fully understand the point i was making so you can nitpick. “sexual motive” or not, they were clearly power-tripping and abusing their position to torment her.

  3. >No other adult was present, her parents were not contacted, and no drugs were found.

    >The girl’s intimate body parts were exposed and she was made to take off her sanitary towel, according to the review.

What the heck?! how is this not sexual assault of a minor?
