  1. > Ms Rayner said the move would lead to a rise in instances of “intimate image abuse” online, which is more commonly referred to as revenge porn and can include uploading images online, as well as sharing them by text and email or even showing another person an image.

    > “Intimate image abuse is a devastating crime and contributes to a vile misogynistic culture on social media that we know translates into physical spaces too,” Ms Rayner said.

    > “Nigel Farage risks failing a generation of young women with his dangerous and irresponsible plans to scrap online safety laws.

    > “Scrapping safeguards and having no viable alternative plan in place to halt the floodgates of abuse that could open is an appalling dereliction of duty.

    > “It’s time for Farage to tell women and girls across Britain how he would keep them safe online.”

  2. Snowflakes will be upset for Farage, how dare Labour be mean 🙁

  3. I’m assuming she’s got the figures to prove that in the last few weeks the “floodgates of abuse” have stopped?

  4. She’s an idiot whose only qualification is fucking her way to the top of a union and that somehow qualifies her to have the position and power she now enjoys.

“Revenge porn” was already illegal, and we did not need more anti-free speech, anti-encryption, anti internet legislation to make it more illegal.

The fact that the proponents of these laws main arguments boils down to “think of the children, think of the women” is evidence to me that the act is not about those things at all, but about the government having control over what people can see or be allowed to discuss online. It is an abomination that takes the same approach as communist China and both the Tories and Labour are responsible for it and need to be punished at the ballot box.

  5. This is a ridiculous comment from Rayner.

“Oh you don’t want the government to over-police the internet? Don’t like the idea of increased censorship and access to online media? I guess you don’t want protections for women who have had sexual images of themselves posted without their consent then!”

What an absurd non-sequitur. It just seems desperate.
