Sir Keir Starmer will be accompanying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Washington

1. Good. Starmer is a master diplomat, Zelenskyy is still learning. That disaster in the White House a few months back needed Starmer’s coaching.

2. It’s good to see the European leaders supporting Zelensky in Washington, especially after the Oval Office debacle on Zelensky’s previous visit.

   A good fried should always back you when dealing with bullies.

3. This is pathetic, isn’t it? A leader of a supposedly independent, sovereign country is too scared to face Trump without Mommy VDL and Kid Starver holding his hand. This only reinforces the perception that Ukraine is nothing more than a NATO proxy.

   Hopefully Trump will enact another ritual humiliation of Z and his entourage.

4. Starmer is like the opposite of Corbyn – brilliant at foreign policy and diplomacy, utterly woeful at domestic policy.

   Can’t the two of them just make friends and jointly lead? Let Starmer do all our “place on the world stage” type stuff and leave Corbyn and co to sort out the NHS, social housing, care homes, infrastructure, national industries/utilities, etc?

   Corbyn is never allowed to so much as utter a vague opinion on anything outside the UK, Starmer isn’t allowed to dictate anything to do with benefits or social support.

5. Easier for Starmer to be seen as the imaginary global negotiator than the cretin who can’t handle unwanted immigrants being dispatched from France.

6. What is the British intrest in Ukrain ? Don’t tell me it’s the Churchill spirit either. First it was Boris Johnson who stopped the first negotiations now kier wants to make sure Donald don’t bully the comedian.

7. Why is everyone suddenly calling him Sir?

   Is this a way of trying to make him seem more respectable or just some boot-kissing going on?

9. We are in a totally different world. The old order has gone. It’s a shame but it’s time we realised that the US is not a reliable partner while Trump is in the White House. He is so ignorant of global structures and only thinks of what he himself can gain financially. He has given Europe the kick up the backside it needs to be fully independent from the US. America has been caught sleeping with the creeping fascism that has now reared its ugly head. We, in Europe have had fascist leaders over the last 100 years and Trump should pay heed to the fact that it never ends well for fascists. The USA is a laughing stock with Trump at the helm, who would take them seriously now?

10. Impressive array of European leaders going.

    I get there’s the whole “what about domestic issues?!” But if Ukraine loses this war we will all be paying for it.

    Russia is vile and hasn’t come into the modern global community. Sure that community is fracturing but partly because of states like Russia.

    20+ years ago after the Kosovo war started and wound down do you all remember what a shock it was to have a war in Europe? Now look at things. There’s somewhere in the region of a million soldiers fighting in Ukraine now all because a nation thinks it can take what it wants.

    And don’t “what about XYZ” conflict debate this. As this is on our doorstep whereas the others aren’t.

11. Why are they entertaining the white house at all?

    Everybody is claiming they don’t need to be involved and nobody wants them involved….. So why is he going back?
