Two people died in a plane crash in southern France

A Swiss citizen died along with a German citizen in an accident involving two light recreational aircraft on Saturday afternoon in Saint-Pons, in southeastern France, the AFP news agency learned from local authorities.
A tow plane and a pontoon took off shortly after 13:00 p.m. from Barcelonnette. The accident occurred shortly after in the Ubaye valley, according to the same source, albinfo.ch reports.
A fire spread through vegetation but was quickly brought under control, according to the department’s fire brigade.
The circumstances of the accident remain to be determined, police said.
