Two families have been asked to leave their homes so the Prince and Princess of Wales can live in an eight-bedroom mansion, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

William, Kate and their three children are set to move to 300-year-old Forest Lodge later this year.
Nestled in a beautiful corner of Windsor Great Park, the Grade II-listed property has been described as their 'forever home', where William will remain even after he becomes King.
The MoS has learnt that earlier this summer two separate families who lived in cottages next to the country mansion were asked to vacate their properties.

The cottages, converted from Forest Lodge's stables, are understood to have been rented out by the Crown Estate, and the tenants, are said to have been 'surprised' at being asked to leave.
It is understood that no eviction notices were served and the tenants have moved to similar or better housing elsewhere in the 4,800-acre Great Park.

One well-connected source said: 'They were told to move out. I guess they were given somewhere else, but they were told they had to move.

  1. Why would they be given eviction notices? The Monarchy and Crown Estate are exempt from a lot of laws, tenants in the Crown Estate do not have the same protections as ordinary tenants.

  2. If the staff isn’t live in then you need nearby accommodations for them just like at Adelaide

  3. All their wealth and all the available properties and they choose to kick two families out of their own. Their last property was supposed to be their “forever home”.

  4. This is their 3rd forever home and it will cost taxpayers in the end. They have already spent a fortune upgrading forever home 1 and 2.

  5. Lord how many houses is this now since 2011? Id be exhausted

  6. The Wales kids are getting older, W&C want a bigger house. The other families close by (tenants, evidently) were relocated to houses in the same neighborhood of equal or bigger size.

Evidently a slow news week. I mean, honestly, I wouldn’t want to live next to the Waleses. I’m sure they’re fine people, but how disruptive would it be? Two blocks away? Sure.

  7. It makes sense.

They need a London base, so Kensington Palace’s 1A is a non-negotiable fixture.

Adelaide Cottage is too small if they plan on making Windsor a permanent base and working from there. The children will all be in school in Berkshire. Forest Lodge will give them a better size for their roles. I’m glad they’re paying for any renovations themselves rather than with taxpayer funds.

Anmer is a bit of a white elephant, but I suppose they’re emotionally invested in it.

Three houses isn’t as bad as what Charles had as Prince of Wales. Birkhall, Clarence House, the Welsh Lodge, Highgrove, a place in Transylvania, the Castle of Mey…

Is it a bit grand? Yes, but they are royalty? What do we expect?

  8. Diana really was the best the royals ever had. Wish she’d been able to stay longer to try to help Will be an empathetic human being.
