August the 18th, 2025 – A 28 million euro investment is set to result in a brand new Croatian shopping centre, with construction set to begin.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, SES Spar European Shopping Centres will begin implementing the S-PARK Varaždin project today. It represents a very significant project for northwestern Croatia. This 28 euro million investment will result in a brand new Croatian shopping centre, the completion of which is scheduled for two years.
The project will begin with the removal of existing buildings on the site of the former Varteks textile factory, which haven’t been in operation for many years now. That will provide an opportunity for the development and modernisation of this extremely important historical city centre. Two months later, the construction of the new retail park called S-PARK Varaždin will begin. “This project marks not only the return of economic dynamics to the historical location, but also creates a new urban centre with a clear function of everyday supply for the residents of Varaždin and the surrounding area,” stated Zoran Karamatić, manager of SES Croatia.
The 28 million euro investment in the new Croatian shopping centre will result in an ultra modern retail park with 12 stores, cafes and eateries with outdoor terraces and various service activities. It will all span a total of 11,500 square metres. The first Interspar hypermarket in the entire region will be located in the central part of the complex. As an investor and property manager, SES is continuing its expansion strategy in the Croatian market. SES Spar European Shopping Centres develops, builds and manages shopping centres across six countries: Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Croatia and the Czech Republic.
Headquartered in Salzburg, SES currently manages 31 shopping locations as part of the aforementioned centres in Central, Southern and Eastern Europe, with a gross leasable area (GLA) of more than 855,000 square meters. SES is also the market leader in the large shopping centre segment in Austria and neighbouring Slovenia.
With more than 117 million visitors per year, SES’s shopping centre partners achieved sales of 3.54 billion euros in 2024. Such success makes this 28 million euro investment in a large, modern new Croatian shopping centre even more promising.
