TIL the history of why the airplane manufacturer Boeing is called Boeing.
The founder apparently was William Boeing, who founded the Aero Products Company, currently known as the The Boeing Company or just Boeing for short.

According to Wikipedia the father of William Boeing was Wilhelm Böing and apparently came from Hohenlimburg, near Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia but emigrated to the United States in 1868.

My German Teacher’s last name was also Böing, she moved to the US after WWII.
btw, Boeing is literally how you write Böing when the ö does not exist in your language
