Would be good if there was this data over time, is it improving?
The OCD in me can’t stand 100% at the bottom of the chart
This map has my county as over 20%, I can tell you without a doubt that it’s far lower than this map claims.
This is a much more accurate representation. Nothing against immigration or migrants, but when you have people move here who arent native born, it ruins the data to where people argue that the amount of welsh speakers vs others are less
how are we defining Welsh speaker in these graphs?
Tldr: being born in Wales doesn’t make you Welsh – emigrating doesn’t make you Welsh either. and those with a non-Welsh background are clearly failing to pick up the language. What is to blame for this? Well for a start, don’t act like Quebec and demand immigrants give up their ancestral language. Not that I am accusing Wales of this but it’s worth being mindful of.
As for those who move from England – fakin’ colonisers. They’re no different to the Brits in Benidorm (though I have little sympathy for Spain in this regard, as they are fully sovereign)
(Though there are those here who moved to Wales with a Welsh spouse & really embraced the language and culture!)
