The electoral bloc “Alternative”, the Patriotic Bloc of Socialists, Communists, the Heart and Future of Moldova, and the political party “Respect Moldova Movement” have been registered as electoral competitors for the parliamentary elections on September 28. The decisions were made by the Central Electoral Commission, during today’s meeting, August 18, reports IPN.

“The Respect Moldova Movement”, led by Marian Lupu, will participate in the elections with a list of 101 candidates.

The former president of the country, socialist leader Igor Dodon, is the head of the “Patriotic” Bloc. This is formed from the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova”, the Party of Communists, and the Party for the Future of Moldova. The bloc’s list includes 104 candidates.

The mayor of the capital, Ion Ceban, heads the list of the “Alternative” bloc, composed of the MAN Party, the Party of Moldova’s Development and Consolidation, the Collective Action Party “Civic Congress”, and the former Prosecutor General, Alexandru Stoianoglo. The bloc enters the electoral race with 103 candidates for the position of deputy.

At the CEC meeting, the symbols of the formations were also approved, as well as the individuals responsible for managing finances.

At the same time, the application of the “Noi” party, led by Vladimir Dachi, was rejected due to non-compliance with legal requirements. It was found that only 49 candidates presented themselves for the confirmation of document submission, below the minimum limit of 51. In addition, the list does not meet the mandatory gender representation quota of 40% for both sexes. For these reasons, the application was rejected by the CEC.

The Commission reminded that all candidates holding public offices, but who have entered the electoral race, are obliged to suspend their activities during the campaign, otherwise they risk being excluded from the lists, according to the Electoral Code.

Just today, the Central Election Commission received the registration request from the Modern Democratic Party of Moldova, with a list of 101 deputies. The party’s founder, Vladimir Cebotari, the president of the party, Boris Foca, and the former Minister of Justice, Fadei Nagacevschi, presented themselves to the commission.

The period for submitting applications for registration in the parliamentary race ends on Tuesday, August 19. The official election campaign will begin on August 29.
