Omw from Munich to Berlin I forgot my airpods case in the train, realized it when I was already at home. Since then my airpods case is traveling around the city which I am still able to track. I reported immediately to the lost and found form for my loss however nobody contacted me yet. The weird thing is that I thought somebody from db service will find my case and drop it at the lost and found office/ice office. But I see it going from one specific location to ICE depot and back. I tried to chase them and went to that location since it was close to me but no luck… any advice what I can do besides praying for not being that stupid again and watch out for my things…

  1. What kind of train is it?

If it’s an RE/RB, you can try to find your exact train number (not route number) that you rode; and then check for the later/tomorrow schedule of that route when it will use your train number again and when it will pass your station where you get off today (assuming that is the closest).

Example RE 1 – 10111, select your station as a start, put one station up (and then down; so you cover both directions), check one by one when it will be using 10111 again.

ICE will be harder, as it probably only does 1 return trip a day.

  2. Your best bet is hoping that the cleaning staff mops it out from under the tables/seats. The chances that it was lying on a table or seat but was not moved by anyone are slim to none.

It might even be wedged between the seats where you set, so its stuck in limbo until the battery runs out. Without a person checking directly where you sat, there is no chance to find it, unless the case gets wiggled free. There is no such service to have personall check for lost items afaik though.

  3. No shit I once had my iPad travelling through Germany a whole four days before I saw the train coming to my home station….i had seat reservation so I knew exactly where to look. Went in, grabbed it and went out! People applauded
