WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Seniors in Greater Lafayette looking to beat the heat received some help thanks to a partnership between the Duke Energy Foundation and Tippecanoe Senior Services.

Representatives distributed 30 air conditioning units and 100 fans to those in need, funded by a $5,000 grant from Duke Energy.

Dagny Zupin from Duke Energy said some people began lining up six hours before the event.

“Seeing the community come together for this event, makes it worth it,” Zupin said.

Zupin added that all 30 air conditioning units and 100 box fans were handed out just one hour into the event.
